1,950 Econo Mini Rod Rules
Tri County/Mid South/Badger Dirt Flingers  (updated 9/2025)

Mid-South 

Engine

1. Single naturally aspirated automotive V8 (S/B) 410ci max with maximum of 8 cylinders, 2 valves & one spark plug per cylinder.

2. Aftermarket blocks permitted, must retain OEM bore spacing and deck height. No aluminum blocks.

3. Aftermarket & OEM cylinder heads are allowed. No hemi heads.

4. Single carburetors only. No EFI or fuel injection permitted.

5. Intake manifold must be casted single plane. Sheet metal intakes or tunnel rams prohibited. 6. No diesel engines permitted.

7. Any pump driven from crankshaft must have appropriate shielding.

Chassis

1. Maximum tire size 18.4 X 16.1, maximum wheel 20”

2. Hitch height maximum 13”.

3. 96” maximum from center or rear axle to forward most point. Maximum width 72” 4. SFI 47.3 roll cage.

 

Tri County Pullers Rules

Econo Mod Division:
1) Maximum of 370 cubic inches small block only. The Tri-County Pullers Board of Directors will determine if an engine is to be considered a small block. Block must retain OEM bore spacing for that engine family.
2) One four-barrel carburetor or one predator. No Holley Dominators or fuel injection. No 4500 style series carburetors.
3) Tractors may use automatic transmissions with torque converter or gear boxes and clutches
4) Aluminum heads permitted. Minimum valve angle of 15o Part number must be clear for verification
a. Heads with less than 15o valve angles will not be permitted
5) No aluminum blocks. Cast iron only.
6) Roller cams permitted (2023)
7) No coil on plug ignitions. No digital programmable ignition systems

Badger Dirt Flingers

1.. No portion of any tractor may exceed 8 feet forward from the center of the rear axle to the front most point.

2. All tractors must have wide front ends with two wheels. The front wheels must track within the rear wheels.

3.All Mini Rod tractors must have roll bars. Bars must consist of two bars over the driver and two down the back behind the driver. All bars must be secured to the tractor’s frame. SFI specs are highly recommended. Minimum thickness of bars is .095 ir 13-gauge mild steel. Bars must be checked and pass tech before allowed to pull. 

4. All exhaust pipes must project upwards. 10 degree max vertical. 

5. All tractors must have rear brakes that must be operated by foot brakes, and must be able to stop the machine.

6.. All tractors must have safety kill switches and neutral start switches. Kill switches must be mounted above the rear weight and 6 inches parallel to the drawbar. Neutral, and reverse required.

7. All tractors will be required to have wheelie or skid pads. Bars must be able to support the entire weight of the machine. Pads should be 3 inches square and minimum of 6 inches back from the rear tires, and maximum of 6 inches off the ground.

8. Engines will be required to have side plates that go along the length of the block and up to the head. 1/8” aluminum or 1/16” steel is the minimum requirements.

9. Engines will be required to have the damper pulley shielded with 1/4” aluminum or 1/8 steel with a strap across the front that is no less than 1/8” thick and 1” wide. If using a blow-proof balancer, then there is no need for the strap around but one must still be used in the front.

10. Engines running a manual transmission will be required to have a blow-proof bell housing. Any one running an automatic transmission will be required to use a safety blanket or an SFI approved shield. 17

11. All opened chain and/or drive shafts will be shielded 180 degrees surrounding the top side. This must be at least 1/8” on thickness.

12. All open fans must be shielded with metal shields 1/16” thick across the top and down both sides. If the fan is in the horizontal position, it must be covered so that no one could get their hand in the fan.

13. Hand throttle or foot feed is required. If the hand throttle is used, it must push forward and when released, must return to idle on its own.

14. a. Tractors must have seat with backs of substantial material at least 6” high. b. Fenders and safety harness are required. 1/3 of the tires must be covered, and the seating area must be enclosed to protect the driver. c. Tire sizes: On dirt tracks any size or style tire may be used.

15. Tractor’s weights must not interfere with hook-up to the mechanical sled. Weight must be securely fastened.

16. All engines must be naturally aspirated. This means absolutely no blowers or turbos. No nitrous oxide allowed.

17. Engine sized limited to 421 cubic inches.

18. All mini-tractors that do not have required safety equipment will not hook to mechanical sled. All tractors will be safely approved before hooking to the sled.

19. The club owns a pump - if needed.

20. No Electronic Fuel Injection allowed

21. Small blocks only
